The purpose of this research, dealing with two tenses (present / past) and their different aspects, was to discover which tense of aspects are learnt first. The analyses of the rating task with C values (Goldsmith and Johnson 1990; Goldsmith, Johnson and Acton 1991) show that students of English as a foreign language capture easily sentences in which future is implied. However, it is very hard for them to deal with sentences expressing repeated events, these ate assimilated in a posterior stage. 1. INTRODUCCION
